Introduction
Do you remember Windows Me? Well it was awful, and this is what happens when Microsoft release something without finishing the product first. 25 years later, and here we are with.... Drum roll please.... *New Outlook*
Ok, in all seriousness there are some major reported issues with the product including but not limited to:
- Connectivity
- Signatures
- Barracuda and Sage Add ins
- Sending/Receiving Email
- Out of Office replies (although reports indicate this may have been resolved for some)
- Slow and regular crashes
Workaround
How to resolve
Thankfully, the workaround is simple, but not without it's own issues (which I'll go into in a moment).
If you're noticing any of the above reported issues, it's best to ensure that you check that the "Try the new Outlook" switch is off as below:
If it is, and you're still suffering with some or all of the above, please ensure you report this to IT Support as normal.
If it's on like this:
Switch it off, and fill out the survey - make sure you tell them exactly what is broken.
And yes, the UI is broken, they have 2 scroll bars because they've put just that much thought into the UI! Scroll down, press submit, then you'll be faced with another broken page this time with 3 scroll bars (you can never have enough!):
Select "Leave".
Look out for...
In Windows 11, Microsoft like to force this switch back on after some updates, so just because it's off today, doesn't mean it will stay off, if problems return, check the switch again. They don't inform you they've done this either.
You may not be able to revert back to "Outlook (classic)" - some have reported the switch button is missing. I have replicated this, but by closing new outlook, then searching under start for "Outlook", "Outlook (classic)" shows - It will open new outlook, but the switch then appears.
You can then run through the above process.
If your issue isn't covered here, or there are new presentations, please do let support know so that we can help.
