If you need a Team to be created, there are options and caveats which you need to understand before we choose the right fit for your needs.
Types of "Manual" Teams
There are 3 types of Team which can be created for you by a Microsoft 365 Admin:
- Class Team
- Staff Team
- Other Team
Class Team
Ideal for groups of students and teachers in a learning capacity.
If we manually create a class Team for you, it will have the following features:
- Files - all members, including students, will have full access to the default files document library for a collaborative experience*.
- Student Folders - students will not get their own secure folders*.
- Class Materials - a second document library is created for resources which students cannot edit.
- Assignments - the assignments app is loaded automatically.
- OneNote Class Notebook - the option to start a class notebook is given.
- Membership - as students come and go, their membership is not updated automatically*. You will need to manage this. The process of adding members is clearly separated into 'Teachers' and 'Students'
- The Team will not be automatically archived at the end of the school year*.
* As opposed to an automated Class Team
Staff Team
Ideal for groups of staff working in a particular capacity or towards a common goal
A Staff Team has the following features:
- Files - all members will have full access to the default files document library for a collaborative experience
- OneNote Staff Notebook - the option to start a Staff notebook is given.
- Membership - membership is not updated automatically. You will need to manage this, deciding whether added colleagues should be 'Members' or 'Owners'
- The Team will not be automatically archived at the end of the school year.
Other Team
Ideal for student clubs, study groups and after school activities.
An Other Teams has the following features:
- Files - all members will have full access to the default files document library for a collaborative experience
- Membership - membership is not updated automatically. You will need to manage this, deciding whether added staff or students should be 'Members' or 'Owners'
- The Team will not be automatically archived at the end of the school year.
