Setting up your new laptop

This guide details steps on how to setup new laptops out of the box.

1. Boot up the device and connect to the wireless network called Apple Store, which requires no password. If the network doesn't show up in the list, contact your IT department so they can enable it. If you are setting up at your own home, use your own wireless network.

3. You should then be prompted to sign in. Use your email address and password. Please note, if your screen doesn't have The Cam Academy Trust logo on it, please contact your IT department.
4. You should then get a screen that says Please wait while we set up your device... See below. This may take a few minutes and your device may restart a few times.
5. You should now have a screen like this. At this point, apps such as the Microsoft Office suite and OneDrive will be installing. You can expand the menus to see the progress of each step. Again, this part can take a while, sometimes up to 30 minutes, and your computer may restart and ask you to login again.
6. Once this stage has completed, you should be at the familiar desktop screen. All of your other apps should start to download now, so if you're missing something, give it time and it should appear.

NOTE - If you get a failure due to an app installation, click the Continue Anyway button. The app will reinstall itself in due course.
