What do I do?
When writing your email, you write it completely as normal. However before you send it, Select “Encrypt Message” under the “Message” ribbon.
(Note: If you don’t see the Encrypt Message button, select the 3 dots and you should see it here.)
Select the slider under actions, so it reads “Encryption on”
Notice here, the add-in appends an additional attachment to the email. This tells the server to perform an email encryption. This is normal.
Important: If the attachment is removed, the message will no longer be encrypted.
Then, send you email as normal.
What does the recipient get?
Note: If you're sending an encrypted email, due to how Barracuda handles the process, it's a good idea to share the below with them in advance. I've written it from the point of view of the recipient of the email, so if you like, you can simply copy and paste the below to the recipient in an unencrypted email in advance of sending the encrypted one.
When you recieve an encrypted email, what you'll get is an email from noreply@barracuda.com which looks something like this:
Click on the "Click here" link, and set a password if you haven't already. Then you should be able to logon and see your personal Encrypted Messages portal:
From here you can select and read any encrypted emails for up to 30 days, and even reply to messages as if this is your normal email system, however it all happens in a secure portal.
